Welcome to the Website of Representative
Grant Burgoyne, District 16-A
Thank you visiting my website. I have served in the Idaho House of Representatives for two terms and I am running for re-election. I believe that public service is essential to a functioning democracy, and I am honored that the people of Boise and Garden City have trusted me to represent them.
As your Representative I have done my best to:
• stand up for, and represent, the people of Boise and Garden City, not the special interests; • listen and be responsive to the people of District 16; and • be practical and work effectively with other legislators.
My Biography
I am 58 years old and I have lived in Boise for 37 years. My wife, Christy, and I have been married for 34 years. We have two daughters and three grandchildren. I am the managing partner of the Boise law firm of Mauk & Burgoyne. Prior to my election to the House, I also served as an Adjunct Professor in BSU's College of Business & Economics. I have served the Idaho Democratic Party as a Precinct Captain, Legislative District Chair, Ada County Chair, Platform Committee Chair and National Committeeman.
As a member of the House, I have served on the following committees:
• Economic Outlook and Revenue Assessment Committee (2011 to present); • Revenue and Taxation Committee (2009 to present); • Judiciary, Rules and Administration Committee (2009 to present); • Natural Resources Interim Committee (ad hoc member, 2011 to present); and • Idaho Criminal Justice Commission ( 2011 to present).
My Campaign
The focus of my campaign is to meet as many people in District 16 as possible and listen to their concerns about the issues facing us. In my campaigns, and in my legislative service, this has given me many insights and I thank all of you who have taken the time to speak with me, write to me and send me emails. As your representative, I will honor the trust you place in me by continuing to listen to you and responding to your needs.
Redistricting
As a result of redistricting, District 16 has grown, and precincts have been renumbered. A map of the new District 16, and the new precinct numbers, can be viewed by clicking here. Our District now has approximately 43,000 people, includes all of Garden City and two very large sections of Boise, one along the State Street corridor from 27th and 28th Streets to Horseshoe Bend Road; and the other along the Fairview corridor from just east of Orchard to Maple Grove.
